Now a days, India is the country which have most of its population as youth. Other countries are expecting too much from us,fear in their eyes can be seen easily. But in the middle of all these, Our country is facing a very dangerous threat from youth,The Drug addiction.

Yes, we have been experiencing an alarming increase of drug abuse among the youngsters in recent years. Every now and then we read in the newspapers that teens are being held for consuming drugs and most of them are usually aged between 17-20. But the main question arises that why the Indian society is experiencing such a dilemma where most of the teenagers and youths are involved in unethical and unproductive activities like substance or Drug abuse.

The youths are topping the charts for the wrong reasons this time around. Recently many college going boys and girls were hauled up by the police involved in the case of drug consumption in a rave party. The alarming rate of drug abuse has always been a problem and especially the increase of drug abuse among youngsters has had detrimental effects on the society.

Treatment centers see teenage patients struggling with addiction to many different types of drugs. As a parent, it’s important to stay informed of the drug landscape and to learn how it can affect your teen if they experiment.

Prescripted medications are quickly taking a bigger piece of the pie when it comes to drug abuse. Teen prescription drug abuse is common as many of the drugs are easily accessible. Some examples of prescription drugs that are often misused include: Central Nervous System (CNS) depressants: sleep medications, anxiety medications like benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, etc) and some seizure medications Opioids: codeine cough syrup, fentanyl, hydrocodone, morphine, oxycodone and tramadol Over-the-counter medicines: dextromethorphan, loperamide (a weak opioid that treats diarrhea) and pseudoephedrine (used to make methamphetamine) Stimulants: amphetamines or methylphenidate products
